Feeling stuck in your photographic journey? Have you mastered the technical elements of photography, like how to set your exposure and focus? Are you in a creative rut, not knowing where to take your work next? If you are interested in black and white photography but don't know how to start or are already working in black and white but want to improve, then this is the class for you.
The focus of this five-hour class is learning how to “see in black and white”. Many modern cameras can be set to display black and white on the rear screen during use. However learning how to recognise good compositional elements, scenes or light is the real skill in black and white photography.
The four hours of practical exercises and walkabout photography aims to show you how to see interesting subjects for black and white photography before you even pick up your camera.
You will learn about how colour theory, shapes, texture and contrast impact black and white photos and more as you make your way through Belfast's Lagan Weir area. We will also discuss post processing during the 1-hour sitdown lunch break and theory element of the class where you can purchase a lunch or beverage.
TEACHING NOTES
As all classes are practical in nature, you will need a camera with the ability to change between Program, Aperture, Shutter and Manual mode, like a DSLR, bridge or mirrorless camera. You will also need a “can do” attitude and a desire to improve as we will learn and practice together. The classes will be tailored to the needs of the group, but above all, they will be entertaining, thought-provoking and fun. Any questions at all just get in touch.
